GEOMETRY OF SPACES

Photography by Giacomo Roggi.

THE PROJECT

Finding order.
Seeing space.

A line becomes a surface. A surface turns towards the light. Geometry of Spaces brings together photographs of architecture through the relationships that shape it: repetition, scale, depth and the space between forms.

The eye moves from a building to a detail, from the weight of stone to the lightness of glass. Each frame offers a different way of reading the places around us.
STRUCTURE

Lines that
lead the eye.

Fins, beams and repeated edges give the image a direction. Seen from below, familiar structures become patterns, drawing the gaze along a curve or towards a distant point. Architecture moves between something we recognise and something almost abstract.
PERSPECTIVE

A space
within a space.

A window becomes a frame. A corridor gathers depth. Looking through architecture is also a way of looking beyond it: towards water, sky or another layer of the city.

These photographs follow that passage between enclosure and openness, where a boundary can guide the view as much as contain it.
LIGHT

The shape
of an opening.

Light gives solid surfaces a changing rhythm. It passes through an arch, follows a wall and leaves a repeated mark on the floor. Warm stone and dark interiors hold the brightness of the world outside.

What begins as a study of geometry becomes a study of intervals: between columns, between shadows, between a place and the view it allows.
